Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado greeted crowds from a hotel balcony in central Oslo after arriving in Norway.
Machado, who reportedly left Venezuela by boat, appeared at the Grand Hotel just before 2:30 a.m. local time.
She had missed Wednesday’s award ceremony, where her daughter accepted the prize on her behalf, prompting varied reactions at home.
The ceremony in Oslo featured accounts of documented human rights abuses in Venezuela.
