Pope visits Blue Mosque, then holds mass in Istanbul

Thousands of worshippers battled the rain to join Pope Leo XIV as he celebrated mass in Istanbul on Saturday, the last full day of his visit to Turkey. Pope Leo also visited Istanbul's iconic Blue Mosque, removing his shoes out of respect but not appearing to pray. Leo later prayed with the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, Patriarch Bartholomew, at the patriarchal church of Saint George.
