The attack occurred around 10:52 a.m. while 48 children and staff members were inside the building. Thanks to a rapid evacuation, no children were killed.

Authorities said the strike was likely carried out using a Shahed-type drone equipped with a jet engine. The explosion damaged the second floor of the kindergarten and triggered a fire that spread through part of the building. Among the injured were two men and four women, one of whom suffered a leg amputation while another sustained severe burns. A municipal worker who was nearby died of his injuries at the scene.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, calling it an assault on civilians with no justification. He expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said that all children had been moved to safety. Local officials reported that many of the evacuated children are showing signs of acute stress following the strike.
