One injured, train services suspended as heavy rains lash Andalusia

In Seville, emergency services have responded to more than 440 incidents amid the severe weather. Up to 115 liters of rain per square meter have been recorded — the highest daily total since records began at the city’s main weather station.

The Seville City Council also reported widespread traffic disruptions, while public universities suspended Wednesday afternoon classes.

The Andalusian regional government has activated Phase 1 of its Special Emergency Plan for Flood Risk, with 45 municipalities also triggering their local emergency plans (PTEL): 38 in Huelva, six in Seville, and one in Granada. The measures come after Spain’s State Meteorological Agency issued a red alert for torrential rain along Huelva’s coastline
