Revolut is set to launch airport lounges, with the first opening in Copenhagen in 2027

Frequent flyers tend to have a fair few cards in their wallet – both for racking up loyalty points and for avoiding the dreaded transfer fees.

If one of your cards happens to be Revolut, we have good news, as the fintech company is set to open a lounge at Copenhagen Airport.

Due to welcome its first guests in 2027, the CPH Revolut Lounge will be the largest common-use lounge in the Schengen area.

It’s part of a wider plan to create a “network of premium lounges across some of Revolut’s priority markets” in the coming years.

No details have been released as yet around access for cardholders. The lounge will be operated by Plaza Premium Group, which operates the world’s largest network of airport lounges.

Founded in the UK, you can open an account in countries across the European Economic Area as well as in Switzerland, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Singapore and Japan.

“Everyone agrees airport lounges tend to underwhelm, we want to bring our design ethos into the real world, and will be creating something gutsy and beautiful,” Hadi Nasrallah, director for product GP and new bets at Revolut, said.

“Copenhagen is a perfect fit, the city can be similarly described and is in a key growth market for us, the Nordics. We’ll strive to set a new standard for airport hospitality across Europe and bring more unique benefits to Revolut customers when they travel.”

Other traveller-friendly offerings from Revolut

While the standard (and free) account is aimed at everyone, some of the monthly plans are directly aimed at travellers.

For example, those on the ultra plan (€55 per month) can download an eSIM with 3GB of global data, as well as benefit from unlimited airport lounge access, unlimited currency exchange with no fees, and also get global medical insurance, car hire excess insurance, and delayed flight, lost or damaged luggage insurance.

You also get subscriptions such as three credits to access WeWork locations around the globe, and 20 credits on ClassPass.

Across all accounts, you can earn RevPoints which can be transferred to some loyalty schemes.

Revolut alternatives

Of course, Revolut isn’t the only option for those looking to dodge transfer fees.

Dutch neobank Bunq also offers multi-currency bank accounts, with premium plans including eSIM data, travel insurance and fee-free foreign currency payments.

Other options on the continent include Wise, N26 and Starling.
