Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked Israel’s president to grant him a pardon amid his long-running corruption trial, which has bitterly divided the country. After requesting multiple delays in the proceedings, Netanyahu has put himself in what FRANCE 24’s Noga Tarnopolsky described as a “paradoxical situation.” He previously persuaded the Supreme Court to allow him to run for office, yet now argues it is impossible for him to testify while leading the country, Tarnopolsky said, reporting from Jerusalem.
