Four firefighters injured in Russian drone attack in Chernihiv region

Four firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital after they were targeted by a Russian drone attack in the Chernihiv region, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

The emergency service crew were tackling a blaze that erupted after a prior drone attack struck the Nizhyn district of the region.

Russia also launched drones towards the Sumy and Kramatorsk region overnight into Monday.

In the Sumy region, at least 12 people were injured, one of them in critical condition, when missiles struck an agricultural field on the outskirts of the town of Boromlya. Farmers working in the field had been harvesting crops.

"The enemy's target was a peaceful field where agricultural machinery was working. People who were harvesting were injured as a result of the attack, the region's governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Telegram, adding that equipment, including tractors, was also damaged.

Another nine people were injured in Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, after Russia struck the city centre with three guided bombs.

Overall at least five civilians were killed and 43 were injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past 24 hours, regional authorities reported on Monday.

The attacks follow a day after Ukraine struck one of Russia's top oil refineries, which had explosions and sparked fire. The oil facility is one of Russia’s largest and is responsible for producing more than 350,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

Shortly after the attack, oil prices rose on Monday, local media reported.

Kyiv says clamping down on Russia’s oil industry, which it says finances the Kremlin’s war, will pressure them towards agreeing to negotiate an end to the fighting.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump called on NATO allies to stop purchasing Russian oil in a post on his social media Truth Social, emphasising that it "greatly weakens" NATO's negotiating position and bargaining power over Russia.
