Spain holds national strike in solidarity with Palestinians

The action, called by several pro-Palestinian unions and associations, included 24-hour strikes, demonstrations, and partial work stoppages across workplaces and schools.

The strike took place just days after the announcement of the first phase of a peace plan between Israel and Hamas, presented by US President Donald Trump. Despite the diplomatic breakthrough, organisers pressed ahead, urging the suspension of all work and educational activities to demand an end to the violence in Gaza and the severing of ties with Israel.

Protests were reported in major cities including Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville, where marchers carried Palestinian flags and banners calling for peace and justice. Unions said the mobilisation was both a show of solidarity with civilians in Gaza and a demand for Spain to take a stronger political stance in response to the ongoing conflict.
