Overnight drone attack kills three in Kyiv

The strike marks the second consecutive night of deadly attacks on the Ukrainian capital as Russian forces continue targeting residential areas. Ukraine’s Interior Minister said the victims included a 19-year-old woman and her 46-year-old mother.

The drones sparked fires in two apartment buildings in the Desnianskyi district, forcing emergency crews to evacuate residents from a nine-storey and a 16-storey high-rise. Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia deployed 101 drones across the country during the night. Ukrainian air defenses shot down most of them, but five strike drones hit four locations, and falling debris caused additional damage in several areas.

The attack followed a large-scale barrage a day earlier that killed four people, including two in Kyiv, prompting renewed calls from Ukraine for increased Western air defense support. The strikes come as winter approaches, raising concerns about continued attacks on urban centres and critical infrastructure.
