Russia has launched a new nuclear-powered submarine, Khabarovsk, at the port of Severodvinsk, the defense ministry announced.

Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said the heavy missile cruiser will enhance Russia’s maritime security and protect its interests worldwide.

The submarine will undergo sea trials before deployment. Belousov also inspected the new icebreaking patrol ship Ivan Papanin, which has already entered service after completing trials.
