The death toll following Russia's attack on the southern port city of Odesa late on Friday has risen to eight, while 27 others were wounded, according to Ukraine’s Emergency Service.

A total of 51 drones and three Iskander-M ballistic missiles were launched across Ukraine in overnight attacks by Russia.

Some of the wounded in Odesa were on a bus during the attack, according to officials. Trucks reportedly caught fire, and other vehicles were also damaged.

Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region, said the port was struck with ballistic missiles.

Ukraine's Armed Forces reported that out of the 51 drones, about 30 of them were of Shahed type, and 31 of the drones were either shot down or jammed, leaving 20 strikes recorded at 15 locations.

Ukraine strikes oil and gas facilities

On the other hand, Ukraine's Armed Forces struck the Russian warship “Okhotnik,” which was patrolling in the Caspian Sea near an oil and gas production, and other facilities in drone attacks, on Friday, its General Staff said in a statement on Telegram on Saturday.

A drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, operated by Russian oil giant Lukoil, was struck.

Ukrainian drones also targeted a radar system and two Russian Su-27 jets located at the Belbek military airfield in Crimea, a peninsula Russia illegally annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
