The outcome of the US presidential election comes down to voters in seven key battleground states.

This year's swing states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

With its 19 electoral votes, Pennsylvania is the largest prize among the battleground states and an important piece of both campaigns’ path to victory.

What's a swing state?

These battleground states are where candidates from both major political parties have a reasonable chance of winning a statewide race or presidential vote.

The term swing state refers to a state that has switched between voting for the Republican and Democratic nominees in recent presidential elections.
