Apple launch event: What we know so far about the expected reveal of the ‘budget iPhone’ SE4

Apple might be unveiling a new model of its more affordable iPhone SE series at its launch event on Wednesday, but it could come with a new name entirely.
For the moment, rumours and speculation are swirling about what it could be after Apple’s CEO Tim Cook teased on X that “the newest member of the family” is coming on Wednesday.
Technology news sites have spread the word it could be an iPhone SE 4, a new model with upgrades on its “budget” iPhone line that retailed at $429 (around €400) and was released in 2022.
However, it might not even be a new SE model. Eagle-eyed techies also said that the photo Cook shared of the Apple logo with a faint circle around could be an AirTag, Apple’s tracking device.
If it is an SE 4, here is what we might see.
The new phone could have a new design with no home button, it will also have a larger screen and the same A18 chip that the iPhone 16 uses, according to Bloomberg.
According to its reporting, it was originally expected that the iPhone SE 4 would launch in the week of February 10, but now its launch looks set for the week of February 17.
The iPhone SE has a single camera on the back. It is unclear if this will change to add another camera, like on other iPhone models.
Other rumours have even said that the iPhone SE 4 may not even be called that and could be called the iPhone 16E, according to Macworld.com. This could mean that it could be more expensive than Apple’s iPhone 15.
Bloomberg’s tech team also reports that the iPhone SE will be included in other product briefings being organised by Apple that week.
Other rumours have circulated that Wednesday’s announcement could be a new MacBook Air or a new iPad Air.
For the moment, we know very little other than hearsay on what Apple’s new product could be.
To hear it first, you can watch it at 7.00 pm CET on Apple’s website, YouTube channel, or social media accounts.
