Centrist liberal party D66, led by Rob Jetten, has taken a surprise lead in the Dutch election, according to an Ipsos I&O exit poll. The survey suggests D66 won 27 seats, two more than Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom, which led the previous government.
The result marks a dramatic turnaround for D66, which ranked sixth two years ago. If confirmed, it would be the party’s biggest victory in its 59-year history and could shift Dutch politics back toward the center.
Here are pictures from the election day and a night of results.
