Coldplay’s 2025 tour will feature affordable tickets and support grassroot venues in the UK

While Oasis’s 2025 reunion tour nabbed headlines for its expensive tickets as a result of dynamic pricing, Coldplay have just announced details of how they’re making their tour more affordable than ever.

British band Coldplay announced eight shows in the UK next year as the only dates they will tour in Europe. Six shows will be at London’s Wembley Stadium with another two at Hull’s Craven Park Stadium in August 2025.

Following their extended global ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour that started in 2022, this short UK tour will follow the upcoming release of their 10th album ‘Moon Music’ - out 4 October.

It’s the first time the band has played in Hull and local fans will be able to access the tickets at a 50% discount.

Coldplay are also making a limited number of tickets available for just £20 (€23.70).

Tickets for the tour go on sale on 27 September with fans who have pre-ordered ‘Moon Music’ able to access a pre-sale the day before. The affordable £20 tickets will go on sale later on 22 November.

Prices for standard tickets have not been confirmed but are likely to be around the cost of the ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour, which ran between £70-100 (€80-120).

The band has also confirmed that it will donate 10% of the proceeds from the concerts to Music Venue Trust (MVT), a UK charity that supports grassroots music venues.

Mark Davyd, the chief executive of MVT, has argued for a £1 (€1.20) levy on arena concerts to support smaller venues across the country. Last year, 125 smaller music venues were forced to shut, many due to increased costs in running them.

“Coldplay are the perfect example of a UK band who came through the grassroots circuit on their way to worldwide, stadium-filling success," said Davyd. "It’s fantastic to see them celebrating their own pathway to Wembley by giving back to the grassroots music venues that supported them and recognising the artists and promoters that are struggling more than ever to build their own careers.”

Davyd and MVT have previously lobbied the UK government to adopt France’s system where a €200 million pot is created by a levy on large ticketed events and smaller venues, artists and promoters can apply to for funding.

Beyond affordability, Coldplay are also planning on making the 2025 dates as environmentally conscious as possible.

The Wembley dates will be powered entirely by solar, wind and kinetic energy, a world first for stadium concerts. One of the stages at each show will have audience members generate energy through kinetic flooring and power bikes.

It’s a move consistent with the huge band’s longstanding attempts to reduce the carbon emissions of global touring.

Their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour is the biggest tour by any group ever but produced 59% less CO2 emissions than their previous stadium tour. The band avoids air travel whenever possible, planning tour dates to be geographically logical for more environmentally friendly transit.

They have also planted over nine million trees during the tour, which will rise to 10 million by the end of the year.
