Sylvester Stallone: Donald Trump is the 'second George Washington'

Oh Rocky...

Sylvester Stallone called Donald Trump the “second George Washington” and compared him to Rocky Balboa following his election win last week.

Trump won the election in a landslide victory over Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, and is the first Republican since George W. Bush to secure the popular vote.

The actor, 78, was giving a speech introducing Trump at the America First Policy Institute Gala held at the Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach Florida last night when he made the comments.

“We’re in the presence of a really mythical character,” said Stallone of Trump. “I love mythology. And this individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe.”

This awe, according to Stallone, puts Trump next to George Washington in terms of safeguarding the US.

He added: “When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was gonna change the world. Because without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington."

Stallone has supported Republican politicians in the past and donated to Democrats - including Joe Biden. However, he was not outspoken during the 2016 and 2020 election cycles.

He did tell Variety in 2016: "I love Donald Trump," but added: "There are certain people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don't know how that translates to running the world."

Stallone joins a small number of entertainment A-listers who support Trump, alongside Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Zachary Levi, Caitlyn Jenner and Mel Gibson.
