French farmers say sector is in crisis as they protest cattle cull

Farmers were once again protesting across south-west France on December 16, following the slaughter of a herd of more than 200 cows last week after a case of nodular dermitis - or lumpy skin disease - was discovered in just one animal. It comes as tensions are particularly high between the French agricultural sector and the government with the EU pushing once more for the controversial Mercosur deal to be signed after 25 years in the making.
