The presidential election in Tanzania is being marred by low turnout as the main challengers to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s grip on power have either been jailed or disqualified from the race. Protests have also been banned, and some voters say they are too afraid to make their way to the polling stations for fear of being subject to violence.
