Sudanese fleeing the RSF paramilitary's takeover of the city of El-Fasher on Sunday continue to bring accounts of mass atrocities with them. Hundreds were killed in the fighters' wresting of the north Darfuri capital from the army, with many of the abuses likely ethnically motivated. Sudan has been locked in a power struggle between rival generals since 2023. More than 40,000 people have been killed and more than 14 million displaced. Prior to El-Fasher's fall, it had been besieged for at least 18 months.
