Israel wants world attention on hostages held in Gaza

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Monday (August 4) said he wants the issue of hostages held in Gaza at the "front and centre" of the world stage, and that he will discuss it at a special UN Security Council session. Videos of emaciated Israeli hostages held in Gaza have horrified Israelis and added pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire with Hamas, even as his government considers another expansion of the nearly 22-month war.
