US government shutdown imminent after Trump meets with Democrats

Vice President JD Vance announced on Monday that the US government was "headed to a shutdown", amid a budget stand-off between Republicans and Democrats over health care tax breaks and spending in Congress. A wide range of services could be disrupted as soon as Wednesday if Congress does not act.
