Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, already serving a prison term for an earlier conviction linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) sovereign wealth fund, on Friday was sentenced to a further 15 years in prison and ordered to pay 13.5 billion ringgit ($3.3 billion) in fines and asset recovery. The High Court found him guilty of abuse of power and money laundering in a case that exposed one of the world’s largest financial scandals.
