COP30 summit in Brazil adopts climate deal – after omitting calls to phase out fossil fuels

The COP30 climate talks in Brazil on Saturday culminated in a final agreement which dropped any explicit call to phase out fossil fuels, despite calls to do so from the EU and dozens of nations. The text showed countries had agreed to accelerate climate action, examine trade barriers linked to it and triple funding for developing nations facing extreme weather.
