Επιζώντες από τις φονικές πλημμύρες στην Ισπανία αναφέρουν ότι μέσα σε 15 λεπτά επικράτησε το χάος. Τα φρεάτια γέμισαν λάσπες, οι δρόμοι πλημμύρισαν, αυτοκίνητα αναποδογύρισαν στα κτίρια προκλήθηκαν ζημιές άνευ προηγουμένου.

Οι περιφερειακές αρχές δεν μπόρεσαν να ειδοποιήσουν εγκαίρως τους πολίτες ενώ σε περιοχές που δεν έβρεχε, δεν υπήρχε καν η σκέψη ότι πλησίαζε η απόλυτη καταστροφή.

Οι δρόμοι έμοιαζαν με τους λασπόδρομους της μεσαιωνικής εποχής, είπαν πολλοί κάτοικοι. Οι έρευνες για τον εντοπισμό των αγνοουμένων βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη.
