The much-hyped and eagerly awaited video game Grand Theft Auto is not going to be available for players this month as previously announced.

It's the second time its maker Rockstar Games have pushed back its release which was due for May 2026.

The game is now set to be available on 19 November 2026.

Originally, GTA 6 was due to hit shelves in the autumn of this year.

In a statement, Rockstar urged fans to be patient saying it needs more time to complete the game to meet the standards of play people have come to "expect and deserve."

Vice, violence and thrills

The game allows users to drive, ride or roam the streets unencumbered by rules in order to steal cars and fill garages with a wealth of expensive cars, bikes and boats.

Along the way, there are quite a few police chases, races against the clock, fights, crashes and characters with language so ripe coming out of their lips there's no way they would kiss their mothers with their mouths.

Grand Theft Auto 6 heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of the fictional Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.

GTA remains one of the world's most successful and popular video games since its launch 12 years ago.

With each successive blockbuster entry in the series including Grand Theft: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto has become one of the biggest selling, most critically acclaimed and influential properties in all of modern entertainment.

The most recent iteration in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, has sold more than 215 million units to date, making it the second most popular video game of all time, behind Minecraft.
