Walk My World: No seating, no stage, new Budapest show reimagines theatre and circus experience

'Walk My World' is no ordinary, traditional theatre production.

First of all, the piece is set in a 6,000 sq metre space rustic space in Milleánris that gives people attending the freedom to roam among the world-class artists and dancers, and pick a character to pursue.

The audience is immersed in a mythological world where they can follow the fate of gods and mortals through dozens of installation spaces in a Hollywood movie set-piece existence.

Because no two viewers will see the same thing from the same perspective in the same evening, there is no single viewing experience.

"Here the viewer is the director. He can follow whoever he wants. There are scenes where we put the audience together, but basically most of the scenes are completely free. You can wander around this huge labyrinth as you please," explained director-choreographer Bence Vági, who founded the company in 2012 and has since gained international fame.

In this multi-sensory production, the story of Dido and Aneas, an ancient mythological tale, comes to life in the language of new circus and dance, as Recirquel has done in the past. The creation of one of Europe's most pioneering theatrical experience has taken five years of preparation and more than six months of rehearsals.

"The most difficult part is not the proximity of the audience, but the fact that because the performance is long enough, the performer can't switch off for a moment because everything is visible," said Zita Horváth, the dancer who plays Dido.

The experience of invisible observation is reinforced by the fact that members of the audience wear masks during the performance. Until now, a performance of similar scale and concept could only be seen in the world's leading art centres, in London or New York.

After its premiere on November 5, 2025, Walk My World will be performed five times a week as a permanent show in Budapest, at the Millenáris Great Hall.
