Bright red river outside Buenos Aires sparks fears of pollution

The Sarandi River flows through poverty-striken and industrial areas that include several factories which operate hazardous waste incinerators.

Local resident Maria Ducomls described waking up to the strong smell from smoke, and later seeing the river turn "completely red, like a river of blood." Authorities have taken samples to investigate the source of the issue.
