France deploys armed forces to fight cattle disease outbreak

France has deployed its armed forces to speed up a nationwide cattle vaccination campaign as lumpy skin disease spreads across several regions.
The government aims to protect around 750,000 animals, as the outbreak puts pressure on farmers and veterinary services.
The move follows a request from Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu to reinforce civilian efforts.
Since December 20, the Armed Forces Health Service has worked alongside state agencies and farmers in affected departments.
Nearly half of cattle in Ariege have been vaccinated, rising above 70% in Aude and reaching full coverage in the Pyrenees-Orientales.
