Britpop stars Oasis said on Sunday that its members are “shocked and saddened” after a man fell to his death during a concert by the band at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The tragedy took place on Saturday night and reports have suggested that the fan fell from the stadium’s upper tier of the 90,000-capacity venue.

The band went on to say: “Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the news on Sunday, saying that officers and medics at the stadium and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports that a person had sustained injuries at 10:19pm, towards the end of the band’s set.

“A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall,” a police statement said. “He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.”

“If you have any information that could help us to confirm what happened, please call 101.”

Saturday night’s gig was the fourth in a run of five shows at Wembley for Oasis – the final one being last night. The concert went ahead as planned.

The band will go on to play three shows in Edinburgh and two in Dublin before heading across the Atlantic for the North American leg of the Oasis Live ‘25 reunion tour. They will then head back to the UK for two final Wembley shows in September, and it has been reported that negotiations are currently underway to bring the sell-out tour to mainland Europe.
