Former Pakistani PM Imran Khan convicted to 17 years in prison

A court in Pakistan has convicted and sentenced the imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 17 years in prison after finding them guilty of retaining and selling state gifts, including jewellery given by Saudi Arabia in 2021. Khan’s lawyer says he will appeal the ruling on behalf of Khan and his wife. Khan’s opposition PTI party has condemned the decision. Nicholas Rushworth has more.
